Warren Eugene Brown

Warren Eugene Brown, age 93 formerly of Modesto, passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2015 at Turlock Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born in Pe Ell, Washington on September 21, 1921 to Henry and Gladys (Cutrite) Brown. After he graduated from Modesto High School he enlisted in the United States Navy in 1941. He was a Navy electrician aboard the USS Minneapolis on Dec. 7, 1941. The heavy cruiser conducted gunnery practice a couple of miles offshore Pearl Harbor when the Japanese attacked the American Fleet. During his active duty naval service he married Alice Gehrts in 1945. After his honorable discharge he settled in Modesto in 1950 where he was an electrician for over 45 years. He was baptized in the Lutheran Church in Portland, Oregon. Warren was a motorcycle enthusiast his whole life and also enjoyed camping and fishing.

Warren is survived by his two daughters Cheryl Santos of Newman, CA and Joanie Hall of Torrance, CA, five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his second wife Margaret Brown and his son Gary Eugene Brown in 2006, one sister and one brother.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Allen Mortuary, located at 247 N. Broadway with a reception to follow at the Allen Event Center.
