Yoshiko Arakaki Baugus

June 1942 ~ December 2011

Yoshiko “Yoshi” Baugus, 69, of Modesto, passed away at Alexander Cohen Hospice House. Yoshi was born in Saipan in the Northern Mariano Islands to Mr. and Mrs. Arakaki. At age 3 her family moved to Okinawa where she attended schools. After high school Yoshi completed advanced studies as a seamstress. Yoshi was an accomplished seamstress. She worked at Lee’s Apparel in Modesto for 4 years. She did alterations of men’s or women’s clothing and also made draperies. Yoshi also loved gardening, she played the piano, and she loved fishing. Yoshi married Victor Baugus in May of 1979. One of their favorite fishing spots was at Cherry Lake.

Yoshi was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband Victor Baugus of Modesto; 2 sons: Andy (Sherry) Trimble of Modesto and Luther Trimble of Ceres; siblings: Fuji Scoggins of Cedar Keys, FL, sister Shiaku, brother Nordio, and sister Eukimi Arakaki, all of Okinawa; four grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.

Services for Yoshi will be at Allen Mortuary: Visitation will be on Tuesday, Dec. 27th from 4:00 to 6:00pm. Funeral Service will be at Allen Mortuary on Wednesday, Dec. 28th, 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Turlock Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be considered for Community Hospice, 4368 Spyres Way, Modesto, CA 95356.
