Amasa “Ammo” Lee Hoskins, aged 56, passed away on July 9, 2026. Born in Turlock, California on July 6, 1970, Amasa grew up attending Livingston High School in Livingston, California, and made his hometown in Delhi, California. He was a man who truly loved being in nature and cherished time spent with his family and friends.

Amasa dedicated his life to protecting his community. He served as a volunteer firefighter in Delhi, California for over 10 years, worked as a contracted firefighter in Fresno County for over 5 years, and served the State of California in Jamestown, California for the last 7 years.

Amasa was happiest exploring Northern California “Gold” towns like Columbia Historic State Park with his wife, gambling, antique shopping, and eating out at his favorite Mexican food restaurants, especially Javi’s Mexican Restaurant, as well as casino buffets. An avid collector and enthusiast, he took great joy in finding baseball cards, Funko Pops, Marvel and DC Comics and collectibles, watching NASCAR, duck hunting, fishing, and collecting coins. He especially treasured playing Nintendo games with his daughter and sharing his superhero collectibles with his son.

Amasa was quiet, caring, sensitive, and thoughtful. He was a nurturing soul who always put others first. He was loving, intelligent, intuitive, fiercely loyal, and protective, while also being beautifully guarded, moody, and stubborn. He loved the simple pleasures of life: a good steak, burritos, cheeseburgers, Reese’s, and Jelly Bellys. He could often be found laughing at funny movies like Step Brothers and Dumb and Dumber, or listening to 80’s rock and old-school country music. His passion for life and adventure was central to who he was, and he shared that joy with everyone around him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Shelley Hoskins; his children, Jimmy Bailey and Erin Bailey; his devoted parents, Gene and Juanita Hoskins; and his sister, Jill Hoskins. In accordance with his wishes, Amasa has been cremated. A celebration of life will take place with close family in August.
