Carlos Leonel Machado “Catrapa” was born in the Azores on September 3, 1938, to Carlos Dores and Maria Clementina Machado. In his early years, he loved working with his hands and was best at knots of any kind. He was known as the animal whisperer, calm and always loving. In the 50’s he did comedy acts to make others laugh and have a good time. He was an awesome volleyball player. He called his grandsons “cowboys” and when he would see his grandkids, he would always give them money. He loved his grandchildren. Carlos loved casinos and buffets and was always ready to go camping and fishing. He also loved attending bullfights. He passed his time playing dominos and cards and once in a while, he would have a cup of wine.
His greatest accomplishment was having his daughter, Fatima. The last ten years of his life were filled with love, and he was surrounded by the ones that loved him. He died peacefully with his daughters, wife and sister by his side.
Carlos is survived by his wife, Albertina Alves, his daughters Fatima M. Silveira and Lizabette M. Smith, his grandchildren Jessica Silveira, Jeremy Silveira, Jeff Silveira, Ryan Smith, Justin Silveira, Katie Smith and Jason Silveira. He is also survived by his siblings, Max Machado, Maura Almada and Margarida Leavitt. Carlos has many nieces and nephews here and in the Azores.
Carlos is preceded in death by his siblings, Feliciano Dores, Manuel Machado, Gilberto Machado, Madalena Borges, Maria Alves, Arlet Alves.
Visitation will be held from 4pm to 7pm on Thursday, November 18, at Allen Mortuary, 247 N. Broadway in Turlock. Recitation of the Rosary and Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am on Friday, November 19, 2021, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 8471 Cypress Rd in Hilmar. Burial will follow at North Hilmar Cemetery.
Carlos Leonel Machado “Catrapa” nasceu nos AÃ§ores a 3 de setembro de 1938, filho de Carlos Dores e Maria Clementina Machado. Em seus primeiros anos, ele adorava trabalhar com as mÃ£os e era o melhor em fazer nÃ³s de qualquer tipo. Ele era conhecido como o encantador de animais, calmo e sempre amoroso. Nos anos 50, comeÃ§ou espectÃ¡culos de comdia para fazer os outros rirem e se divertirem. Carlos era um jogador de voleibol incrÃvel. Ele chamava seus netos de “cowboys” e quando os via, sempre lhes dava dinheiro. Ele amava seus netos. Carlos adorava cassinos e bufÃªs e estava sempre pronto para acampar e pescar. Ele tambm adorava assistir Ã s touradas e passava o tempo jogando dominÃ³ e cartas e de vez em quando tomava um copo de vinho.
Sua maior conquista foi ter sua filha FÃ¡tima. Os Ãºltimos dez anos de sua vida foram cheios de amor, rodeado por aqueles que o amavam. Ele morreu em paz com suas filhas, esposa, e irmÃ£ ao seu lado.
Carlos deixa sua esposa, Albertina Alves, suas filhas Fatima M. Silveira e Lizabette M. Smith, seus netos Jessica Silveira, Jeremy Silveira, Jeff Silveira, Ryan Smith, Justin Silveira, Katie Smith, e Jason Silveira. Ele tambm deixa seus irmÃ£os, Max Machado, Maura Almada, e Margarida Leavitt. O Carlos tem muitos sobrinhos e sobrinhas aqui e nos AÃ§ores.
Carlos precedido na morte pelos irmÃ£os Feliciano Dores, Manuel Machado, Gilberto Machado, Madalena Borges, Maria Alves, e Arlet Alves.

A recitaÃ§Ã£o do RosÃ¡rio e a Missa do funeral serÃ£o realizadas Ã s 10h na sexta-feira, 19 de novembro de 2021, na Igreja CatÃ³lica do Santo RosÃ¡rio, 8471 Cypress Rd em Hilmar. O enterro serÃ¡ no Cemitrio North Hilmar.
