Dianne Lee Mundello, born Wiseheart, passed comfortably and surrounded by family on July 4, 2026 at the age of 83. A caring friend, mother, wife, grandmother and great grandmother, Di is survived by her husband, Don, three children, Darci (husband Chris), Darla (husband Terry) and Donald (wife Amy), bonus daughter-in-law Stacy, seven grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.
Dianne was born in El Monte, California on September 23, 1942 to Sylvester and Mildred Wiseheart. She grew up with her twin brother, Ed. Dianne met her husband Don at Modesto Junior College and married in 1964. The two moved to Dinuba, California, where they started their family, eventually settling in Yreka, California where they owned Mundello’s Turf and Timber, a bicycle, lawn mower and chain saw business. They then found their way to Turlock, California where Dianne worked at Emanuel Medical Center. A loving and attentive registered nurse for decades, Dianne ended her career as a diabetic educator, helping people work through the complexities, education and treatment for the condition.
Dianne, known as Marmi or Grandma D by her grandchildren, and GG to her great grandchildren, loved to travel, quilt, garden and stay active. Always a trip to the coast or up to the mountains, family road trips were a persistent part of her life. Her talent for quilting gave her a unique way for friends and family to cherish memories and create comfort in their homes. The rose bushes that lined her yard were a point of pride, and you could always find her on her bike, treadmill or walking the local college campus.
In retirement, Dianne continued her passions while finding ways to give back to her community. The Mundello family adopted a highway, keeping a stretch of Highway 108 clean for years. She volunteered at a local non-profit thrift store and worked hard to pass along her talents and hobbies to her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Dianne will be remembered for her love of her family, her veracity for words, her keen skills in the kitchen to feed hoards of guests they frequently had in their home, and the more-than occasional “Yayba Yayba!” and “Hey gang!”
Services will be held on July 17 at Allen Mortuary in Turlock at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family asks that donations be made to Cogir of Turlock, Off Center Thrift and Gift or Bristol Hospice.
