Doris Jane Date-Burden

Doris Jane Date-Burden, 71, of Modesto, California, passed away on September 19, 2026, at Kaiser Permanente Santa Clara Medical Center.
Doris was born and raised in Turlock, California. She graduated from Turlock High School in 1972 and earned her Bachelor of Science degree from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, in 1977. In 1978, she married Michael Robert “Mike” Burden.
Throughout her career, Doris worked at Turlock Valley Nursery and Turlock Flower Shop. She later served her community as a librarian at the Empire School District, where she remained until her retirement.
Doris had a strong faith and treasured the fellowship she found through Bible study. She also enjoyed horseback riding, creating floral arrangements, fishing, and knitting. Her creativity, many interests, and love for her family brought great joy to her life.
Doris is survived by her loving husband, Mike Burden of Modesto; her son, Michael Burden and his wife, Elaine, of Daly City; her grandson, Casey Burden; and many beloved extended family members.
A visitation will be held on Friday, October 2, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Allen Mortuary, 247 N. Broadway, Turlock.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 3, 2026, also at Allen Mortuary. Burial will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park in Hughson, California.
