Howard R. Siggins

Howard R. Siggins, 83, of Turlock, California, passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at Emanuel Medical Center.
Howard was born in Victoria, Texas, and raised in Cody, Wyoming. He graduated from Cody High School in 1961 before earning his bachelor’s degree from Montana State University – Bozeman. He began his teaching career on the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation in Fort Yates, North Dakota, where he taught industrial arts for two years.
Howard married Effie Ford in 1965, and the couple settled in Turlock in 1967. He went on to teach auto shop and auto body at Turlock High School for more than 30 years, sharing his knowledge and skills with generations of students.
A talented and creative craftsman, Howard enjoyed designing and building art sculptures, Native American flutes with hand-carved totems, and handcrafted furniture. He also built and installed all the cabinets in his family’s home. In addition, Howard designed, made, and sold jewelry. In his younger years, he engineered and built his own sports car. His creativity extended to his love of model airplanes, which he enjoyed building and flying.
He also had a great love, knowledge and respect for all animals, and particularly loved birds. He gave a happy home to many pets and creatures throughout his lifetime.
Howard is survived by his loving wife, Effie Siggins; daughter, Katherine M. Siggins of Cody, Wyoming; son, Kevin M. Siggins of Orland Park, Illinois; granddaughter, Madelyn Wehrly; and sister, Elizabeth Ann Siggins-Bricker of Missouri.
