In Loving Memory of James Edward Ford Jr.

February 8, 1978 – July 27, 2026

With profound love and cherished memories, we celebrate the life of James Edward Ford Jr., who departed this life on July 27, 2026, at the age of 48.

To many, he was known simply as “Quick.” It was more than a nickname—it reflected the energy, confidence, and larger-than-life personality that everyone loved. Quick had a way of making people smile, lifting their spirits, and turning ordinary moments into unforgettable memories. His infectious smile, quick wit, and magnetic personality could light up any room. To know James was to know kindness, loyalty, generosity, and unconditional love.

James was the beloved son of Mary Blackman and the biological son of James Edward Ford Sr. He was lovingly raised by Lynn Blackman Sr., who was married to Mary for more than 30 years and whom James proudly knew and loved as his Dad. He was also blessed by the love and guidance of his Stepmother, Kimberly Leatham.

He was preceded in death by his Dad, Lynn Blackman Sr., his biological father, James Edward Ford Sr., and his beloved son, James Edward Ford III. Losing his son was a heartbreak that James carried deeply, and his son’s memory remained forever close to his heart. Their bond and the love he had for him never faded.

Above all else, James was a devoted father. His children—Arion Ford, Aniyah Ford, Ayani Ford, and James Edward Ford III—were his greatest pride, his greatest joy, and the center of his world. The love he had for each of them was unconditional, and they will forever carry a part of his spirit with them.

James also shared a beautiful life with his devoted fiancée of many years, Argie Owens, whose love, companionship, and unwavering support meant the world to him. Together they built countless memories filled with laughter, love, and friendship. James also held a special place in his heart for Dapree Rose, whom he loved like family and was proud to watch grow over the years.

James leaves to cherish his memory his loving mother, Mary Blackman; his sisters, Linda (Joe) Peterson, Myisha Ford, and Charity Brooks; his brother, Lynn Blackman Jr.; along with a host of God sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, cherished friends, and all whose lives were enriched by his love, laughter, and generous spirit.

James had a passion for cars and took pride in looking his best. Whether he was dressed to impress or spending time with those he loved, he lived life with confidence, style, and authenticity. He loved being surrounded by family and friends, sharing stories, making people laugh, and creating memories that will be treasured forever. His warmth and genuine spirit made everyone feel welcome, valued, and appreciated. If you ever had the privilege of knowing James, chances are you left with a smile, a laugh, or a memory you’ll never forget.

One phrase that James often shared was, “Proper preparation prevents poor performance.” It was more than just words to him—it was a way of approaching life. He believed in being prepared, giving your best effort, and encouraging others to do the same. That simple saying reflected the determination, wisdom, and positive mindset that he carried with him every day.

Although James’s time with us was far too short, the impact he made will last a lifetime. His laughter will continue to echo in our hearts, his love will live on through his children, family, and friends, and his legacy will be carried forward by everyone whose life he touched.

Today, we choose not only to mourn his passing but to celebrate the beautiful life he lived. James reminded us to laugh a little louder, love a little deeper, forgive a little quicker, and cherish every moment with the people who matter most.

Though we can no longer see his smile or hear his laughter, we know his spirit will forever remain with us—in the stories we tell, the memories we share, and the love that continues to bind us together.

Quick, your race is finished, but your legacy lives on.

“Proper Preparation Prevents Poor Performance.”

Forever Loved.
Forever Remembered.
Forever Missed.
Forever in Our Hearts.
