Kathleen Ann Leighton
May 20, 1952 ~ October 30, 2023
Kathleen Leighton of Turlock, California has passed away at the age of 71. She was born in Turlock to Charles and Marie Kirby. She earned her Master’s degree at California State University – Stanislaus and worked as a Speech and Language Pathologist for over 35 years. She married Dennis Leighton, and together they raised their two children, Amanda and Matthew.
Kathleen was a person who got great joy from her family, especially her two grand-daughters, Ashyln and Brooklyn (her forever baby-cakes). She and her husband, Dennis, often enjoyed trips to the coast where they shared a love of the ocean. Kathleen will always be remembered for her raucous and delicious Thanksgiving dinners.
Kathleen is survived by her husband Dennis, her two adult children Amanda Gress and Matthew Leighton, and her two grandchildren, Brooklyn and Ashlyn Leighton.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Leighton family residence on Saturday, December 2nd at 2:00pm.

November 6, 2023 at 9:14 pmMy most sincere sympathy to the Leighton and Kirby families. I worked with Kathy at THS for many years and we became close friends. We shared stories of our families, our students and just everything. She was so much fun! We shared a similar sense of humor and similar values. She was so bright, funny, irreverent (in a fun way) and devoted to those she loved. Her home and family were the center of her world. Her loss will be felt by many and she will be missed by even those of us who had not seen her for years. Jennifer Ensley
