Marilyn Machado

September 4, 1944 – November 13, 2020

Marilyn Machado, 76, went on to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 13, 2020. She passed away peacefully at home in Turlock, CA, surrounded by her loving husband and children.

Marilyn was born in Hermosa Beach, California on September 4, 1944 to Marvin and Edna Garrett. She was born into a Christian family, and was one of five children.

On September 15, 1979, she married the love of her life David Machado, and together they settled in the Hilmar-Turlock area where they blended their families, loved and cherished all five of their children. Marilyn was a long time member of the Turlock Church of Christ, where she found strength and comfort in devoting her life to serving God, and raising her family within the Church.

Marilyn’s love for people led her to work in customer service as a waitress at Latif’s Restaurant, and as a secretary at the Hughson Christian School. However, her greatest passion in life was to be a homemaker so she could spend more time at home with her family. In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking and entertaining her family and friends, playing with and spoiling her grandchildren, and watching scary movies.

Marilyn was a kind, pure and genuine soul. She will always be remembered for her gentle, warm and loving nature, her selflessness, her beautiful smile and infectious laughter. She will be forever missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 41 years, David Machado; her children, Marci (Jesse) Machado, Candice (Troy) Reeves, Darren (Christy) Casey, Terry (Lawson) Rudge, and Tammy Machado; as well as her many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, November 24 at the Turlock Church of Christ, 801 N. Tully Road, Turlock.

  1. Wendy Cooke says

I got to know Marilyn when she worked at Latin’s Restaurant. I would meet my grandfather there almost every day while he had his main meal of the day. One day she told me she was expecting and I laughed and told her I was too. From that moment on we became friends. We got together, along with Linda Olsen, at least once a week with our little ones until they started school. We moved to Modesto when our son was 5 and we weren’t able to get together much after that, because both of our children were starting kindergarten. Marilyn was a sweet, caring person that I came to love as a good friend & she’ll be missed by many.
