Michael was born in Oakland to Michael and Linda Maunakea and passed away suddenly at the age of 28. He will be remembered for his gentle and humble demeanor. Michael loved his family, never complained and found the good in everything. His smile lit up a room and he was a “gentle giant”. He loved his mama, was his dad’s backbone and was a loving uncle and brother. Michael was a sports fanatic and knew everything a person could know about it.
He is survived by his parents Michael Maunakea and Linda Griffith-Maunakea; siblings Angie, Keoni, Ronelle, Joseph, Vegas, Makalay, Jeremiah and Cee Cee; grandmother Dorothy Maunakea “Tutu”; nieces and nephews Hennessy, De’Andre, D’Ronn and Ble’synn; aunts and uncles Patrick Griffith Sean Griffith, Patrick Griffith and Belinda Colon; god sister Nicole Colon; cousins Mario and Lorenzo and many other extended family members.
Viewing will be held at Allen Mortuary on Friday, December 9, 2022 from 5:00-7:00p.m. Funeral will also be at Allen Mortuary on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at 1:00p.m.
