Richard Starn passed away in Modesto February 10, 2018. He was 89. Richard was born and raised in Hughson, CA. While still in high school, he apprenticed as an auto mechanic to his cousin Ray Starn. After his apprenticeship, he owned and operated an independent auto repair business in Hughson and later in Modesto. He retired after 40 years.
Richard relocated to Twain Harte where he did custom tool and die work and also volunteered at a local hospital and food pantry. He was a member of Modesto Covenant Church for many years as well as Twain Harte Free Church.
Richard was preceded in death by his wife Janelle, his sons, Jeffery and Kurtis, and by his brother Donald Starn and sister Marilyn Starn.
He is survived by his son, Laurence Starn, his brother, Lloyd E. Starn, and his sister, Dorothy M. Starn, one grandson, Jason Starn, and other relatives and friends.
Remembrances in Richard’s name may be made to Covenant Village in Turlock, CA.
Graveside service will be held Friday, Feb. 16, 2018 at 1:00 pm in North Hilmar Cemetery. A Memorial Worship Service is planned for Saturday, Feb. 17, 2018, 1:00 pm at Allen Mortuary.
