Sherwin Yates Rhinehart
May 17, 1954 – October 20, 2025

Sherwin Yates Rhinehart, born on May 17, 1954, was a devoted partner, father, stepdad, grandpa, uncle, and friend whose warmth touched everyone who knew him.

Sherwin was the beloved partner of the late Kathleen Rose Harlan, with whom he shared a deep and enduring love. Together, they built a life full of laughter, compassion, and shared memories that will be cherished by their family and friends.

He worked for O’Connor Hospital in San Jose as the Assistant Chief Engineer for many years.

He is survived by his son, Douglas Rhinehart as well his stepdaughter, Tori Lockwood (Jim), his sister Renee, grandchildren, Kandace, Colton, and Emily, as well as many nieces and nephews, especially Mana and Sonja Rhinehart, all of whom will remember his kind heart, steady guidance, and the joy he brought into their lives. Yates’ legacy lives on in the lessons he taught, the stories he shared, and the love he gave.

Yates was preceded in death by his mom Gennie Matthews, brothers Farren and Wayne Rhinehart, sister Donnie Jean Rhinehart, and sons Yates Rhinehart Jr. and Michael Rhinehart.

Yates will be remembered for his generous spirit, his unwavering loyalty to those he cared about, and his quiet strength. His presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him.

A celebration of Sherwin’s life will be held November 12th at 10am at Allen Mortuary in Turlock, California.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his honor to a charity close to his heart.

May he rest in peace, reunited with his beloved Kathleen.
