Edwin John Greenwood

September 5, 1936 ~ June 11, 2025

Edwin Greenwood of Ceres, California, passed away peacefully at the age of 88 with family by his side. Ed was born in Fairfield, California to John and Hazel Greenwood and graduated from Thomas Downey High School in 1955. At the early age of fourteen, Ed worked along side his Dad in the paving business.  His mother once said he began working “as a boy doing a man’s job.” This early introduction instilled a work ethic he lived by, work hard, finish the job, and do the right thing. Following high school, Ed began a lengthy working career including steel fabricating, industrial mechanical and a machinist, culminating in the start of his own business, Greenwood Machine and Fabrication. Ed, often called “Big Ed,” consistently focused on his primary goals, which included providing for his family, enjoying his leisure time, and ensuring his future security.

Ed was an avid sportsman.  Many trips were spent hunting, fishing, and driving his self-made sand rail.  These adventures with his friends and family were cherished memories for him later in life.

Edwin is survived by his daughters Marlene Bell (Gregg), Cheryl Crawford (Todd), sons Todd Greenwood (Wanda), and A. Thomas Murray, grandsons Brandon Crawford, Bryan Crawford and Forrest Greenwood; granddaughter Jaci Alves, great-granddaughter Harlow Alves, brother Ronald Greenwood and sister Nancy Greenwood, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.  Ed is preceded in death by his wife of fifty-five years, Linda Greenwood.

A Memorial service will be held at Allen Mortuary on Saturday, July 19, 2025 at 10:00am.
