Joseph (Joe) Bernard Blanc Jr., age 84, peacefully passed away on July 17, 2025, in Oakdale, surrounded by his family. Joe was born on July 26, 1940, in Turlock, California, to Joseph and Helen Blanc.
Joe lived a life rooted in unwavering faith in God. Throughout his life, he played an active role in his church. He was compassionate and brought laughter and joy wherever he went, always eager to help those around him. He touched the lives of many and built a family that extended beyond his blood relatives. Many of his former students remained connected to him throughout the years, some even came to see him as family and cherish the impact he had on their lives.
Joe grew up on a ranch in Turlock and attended Turlock High School. He graduated from Biola University, where he met his wife, Judy. Joe was a science and math teacher for over 40 years, teaching at El Capitan in Delhi and Frank Sparks Middle School in Winton. His passion for teaching was so strong that he continued as a substitute teacher in the Ceres and Oakdale school districts for more than 10 years. As a substitute, he had the joy of teaching in his granddaughter’s classes and even served as a substitute in his son’s classroom.
Joe had a strong sense of adventure and a love for the outdoors and camping. As a father, he instilled that same love for nature in his family through many camping trips. He continued camping throughout his life, often with friends, and even served as a campground host at Lake Alpine.
Joe loved talking to and meeting new people. He was the kind of person who truly listened, someone who made you feel seen and valued in every conversation. He was an avid gardener, maintaining a large garden each year. He was also a lifelong fan of the San Francisco Giants and the 49ers.
Joe is preceded in death by his wife, Judy Blanc; his daughter, Julie Cox; and his younger brother, Harold Blanc.
He is survived by his son, Jon Blanc; grandson, AJ Cox; granddaughters, Madison and Victoria Blanc; his cherished dog, Bailey; and his two chickens, affectionately known as “Joe’s Ladies.”
Visitation will be held on July 30 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Allen Mortuary, 247 N Broadway, Turlock.
A Celebration of Life will take place on July 31 at 11:30 a.m. at Calvary Chapel Turlock, 147 S Broadway, Turlock.
