In Loving Memory of
Margarit Julian
November 23, 1942 – January 26, 2026

It is with deep sorrow and profound love that we announce the passing of Margarit Julian, who was born on November 23, 1942, in Urmia, Iran, and peacefully entered eternal rest on January 26, 2026, in her home in Turlock, California, after being personally cared for and lovingly nursed by her daughter, Michelle Sanderson. She now joins her beloved husband, William Julian, who preceded her in death on August 24, 2023, her parents Youshia and Bato Sarkiszadeh and her brother Milton.
Margarit leaves behind her devoted children and grandchildren: Betty Julian and her sons, Joshua and Patrick; Michelle Sanderson, her husband Richard, and their daughter Zoe; Rowchelle Julian and her husband Pedro; and granddaughter Alyssa Sanchez. She is also survived by her beloved siblings: her brother Edward and his wife Violet and their sons, her sister Janet, and her brother Edmond. She is further survived by her dear sister-in-law, Victoria Abbasi, her husband Joseph, daughters Donna and Natalie, brother-in-law Walter Julien, cousins Violet and Dibet, aunt Juan and a long list of close Sarkis Family cousins and cherished family members and friends.

In her youth, Margarit was a gifted athlete, competing as a volleyball player and excelling as a discus thrower. Throughout her life, Margarit worked in many professions, beginning as a nurse, later as a cosmetologist, and willingly taking on additional jobs to provide for her family. After losing her father at the young age of 25, Margarit stepped into the role of caretaker and helped raise her younger siblings. For more than 50 years, she was the steadfast matriarch and guiding force of her family.

Margarit was a strong and accomplished woman—a successful businesswoman from a young age in her home country and as an immigrant in this country. She instilled in her daughters the enduring values of education, hard work, honesty, loyalty, and integrity. Elegant and beautiful both inside and out, she was known for her wisdom, quick wit, loving heart, generosity, and her open-door policy for family, friends, and even strangers. She was the life of every gathering and always the first to lead the Assyrian dance.

Margarit was a lifetime member of the Assyrian American Civic Club of Turlock – serving as
the Ladies Auxiliary President and a member of the St. Thomas Assyrian Catholic Church.

Strong in her faith, Margarit faced life with optimism and grace, always choosing to focus on the positive even in difficult times. She was a problem-solver and a doer—never one to sit idle when something needed to be done—and she approached every challenge with determination, confidence, and the belief that things could always be made better. She made the world a better place.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Margarit’s honor to Letters to Santa Charity at www.letters2santacharity.com, a cause close to her heart.

Her legacy of love, strength, and selflessness will live on forever in all who were blessed to
know her.

Funeral will be at St. Thomas Assyrian Chaldean Church in Turlock on Saturday, January 31, 2026 at 9:00a.m. with interment to follow at Turlock Memorial Park. A lunch reception will be held at the Assyrian American Civic Club of Turlock, 2618 N. Golden State Blvd. at 11:00a.m.
