David George Armstrong
April 21, 1943 – March 17, 2026

David George Armstrong, 82, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2026. He was born on April 21, 1943, in Tulare, California.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Dorothy Armstrong, and his brother, Richard Armstrong.

He is lovingly survived by his devoted wife of 51 years, Norma Armstrong, whom he married on July 20, 1974; his daughter, Kristen Noel and her husband Dave, along with their children Jackson and Victoria; and his son, Eric Armstrong and his wife Stacey, along with their children Titus, Elliana, Josiah, and Andrew.

After graduating from UCLA, David knew he was going to be drafted so he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He was honorably discharged in 1971. Following his military service, David built a successful career as a technical writer and was a proud member of the Technical Writing Association for over 30 years.

David worked for both Foster Farms and Gallo Winery, where he not only contributed professionally but also developed a deep appreciation for fine wine. He retired in 2006.

From the age of four, David had a lifelong passion for trains. What began as a childhood fascination—standing by railroad tracks watching trains pass—grew into a cherished hobby that brought him joy and meaningful, lifelong friendships. He was a member of the National Model Railroad Association and a lifetime member of the Monon Technical Society. David enjoyed chasing trains with his friends and riding them around the world with Norma.

In retirement, David found his greatest joy in traveling, spending time with his family, and savoring good food and drink. He will be remembered as a faithful provider, a steady and dependable presence, and for his deep sense of responsibility, kind and friendly nature, and the love he shared with those closest to him.

A celebration of David’s life will be held on Saturday, April 18, at 1:00 p.m. at Allen Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in David’s memory to Community Hospice at Alexander Cohen House.
