Gurjit Singh was born on August 8th, 1939 in Punjab, India. He passed away on October 21st 2022 surrounded by his family in Merced, California. He came to the United States exactly 10 years ago. He worked as a land records officer in Punjab and was a herbalist and cartologist during his spare time. A true nature enthusiast, he enjoyed traveling and loved soaking in sunshine whenever he could. Besides enjoying all the sweet foods he could, he also loved cooking for his family. His circle of friends and relatives was wide and varied, where he made everyone feel loved and cared for. We will always remember him for his extremely generous and kind spirit, even if his looks intimidate most at first glance.
Gurjit Singh was married to Baljeet Kaur for 53 years, until her passing in 2011. He is survived by his son Lakhbir Singh Sodhi, daughter-in-law Archna Sodhi, and daughters Paramjeet Kaur, Sukhvir Kaur and Kanwaljit Kaur and their respective spouses. He is also survived by his two brothers, nine grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
