Carol was born in Oakland, California and graduated from El Cerrito High School in 1968.  In 1973 she settled in Turlock and married John Vercammen on May 12, 1973.  Carol enjoyed cooking and travelling, but most of all she treasured time spent with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband John Vercammen; children Michael (Mary) Vercammen and Eric Vercammen; grandchildren Michael Vercammen Jr. and Drew Vercammen; and siblings Robert Rockwell of San Diego, Lynn Tozier of Colorado, and Richard Rockwell of Colorado. She is also survived by her sisters in law Eleanor Vercammen, Juliette Frost, and brother in law Paul Vercammen, of all of California.

Memorial contributions can be made in Carol’s memory to American Cancer Society.

    I an so sorry to hear the news that Carol is no longer on this Earth but now is frolicking in heaven with no pain. I will forever remember working with her at Gallo many years ago and what a great friend she was to me. God bless the family.

  6. My mom was Carol’s hairdresser and friend for years. I met her through my mom and her orneriness matched mine and a friend was made on first introduction. Such a beautiful and kind soul inside and out! She will be greatly missed. Prayers to all of the family .

  9. I was blessed to have known Carol for 40 years. I was also Carol’s boss for a while and coached both Michael and Eric in little league. Given Carol’s candor that could have been a potential disaster but, instead, Carol was always a dear friend and someone I respected completely. I am truly going to miss her. All my love to John, Michael, and Eric as they navigate through this difficult time. Rest In Peace Carol.

  11. There are not enough words to describe how sad I feel. My heart is broken for her”boys” who loved her dearly and will miss her the same. So will I.

  12. Carol and John were two of the first friends that we made when moving to Turlock in 1979. We spent many holidays together, raised our son’s together and always had so much fun!
    I loved Carol’s honesty, straight forwardness and her delightful sense of humor. She always had a twinkle in her eyes. I was blessed to call her friend.

  13. I will always remember Carol for her spontaneous personality! We were Cub Scout Den Mother’s together and she was just a lovely fun person. She will be missed. God bless her and her precious family.

I will always cherish the memories…your beautiful wedding, the boys Christenings and long talks about life as our kids grew up, their weddings, your standing beside me when Steve and I repeated our vows, our trip to Venice and our amazing cruise to Greece, the day you cleaned my silver and critiqued my book for me, the time you took to help me find Bing cherries in May, your fabulous meals, your fierce love for your kids, the sparkle in your eyes when you talk about your grandkids. You were always there for the special times in life. I will miss you so, my friend…your laugh, your honesty. I will always hold you close to my heart. Rest In Peace knowing that you left your footprint. Love you.

  18. Grandma, it’s been 2 months since I last saw you. I missed you and wanted to see you again. I’m heartbroken to hear that you have passed away. On the bright side your in a better place, with no pain and can live your life with God. I miss you very much and blessed to be your grandson.

  19. You will be missed tremendously Carol. Although I hadn’t seen you as often as I did when I was younger, I looked forward to bumping into you on occasion and catching up.
