Cipriana Romero Carrasco, age 100, passed away Monday, January 7, 2019 at Turlock Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Cipriana was born August 26, 1918 and immigrated to Fresno from Guadalajita, Zacatecas, Mexico. After living in Fresno she moved to Merced, where she married Joe Carrasco in 1952.

Cipriana is preceded in death by her husband Joe Carrasco (2002), brother Aurelio (Josefa) Romero, and her sister Simona Romero. She is survived by her sons Joe (Denise) Carrasco, Jr. and Refugio R. (Lola Moreno) Carrasco, daughter Sophe (Miguel) de la Torre, nine grandchildren, and 22 great grandchildren.

Cipriana was a nature lover; she created her own fish pond and would spend time gardening and enjoying her goldfish. Cipriana loved to plant flowers that would attract butterflies and hummingbirds and took the time to sit and enjoy her oasis. When not enjoying the sanctuary of the outdoors she would be known to enjoy her time with family drinking her cafecito and eating her pan dulce or chocolates while catching up with all of the family that would visit.

Visitation will begin 4pm on Monday, January 14, 2019 followed by the Rosary at 7pm, both at Allen Mortuary. Mass will be held 10am on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with interment to follow at Turlock Memorial Park.

Cipriana Carrasco was my Grandmother and Friend.

As many have mentioned, she lead with a firm hand and a limitless amount of love in her heart, displayed her “Way”. As my Cousin JR Peeples reminded us all, even with a simple “I Love You Grandma” – It was met with a simple “Me Too” in perfect English. This from a woman who refused to speak english, and understood english very well.

Life is a Fragile series of choices, all mounting to what we refer to as our existence on the planet during this time.

I cherish the foundation and mindset that she had, always creating something out of nothing, and seeing the vision all while maintaining her virtues and standards in an ever growing world.

Her light will carry on in story and in spirit, many times having the room be filled from her actions, comments, and looks of disgust, all of which were for a laugh.

Light and Love – Constantly Expanding

  4. Yolanda Reyes Romero says

My Tia was such a special soul, she always told it like it was and made you laugh just by the way you said things. I remember how she use to scold my dad when he wouldn’t listen to reason or was being stubborn. Then they would both just laugh about it She will truly be missed but I know she is sitting happily in a beautiful bright garden filled with butterflies and hummingbirds right next to my dad and Tia Simona laughing and telling stories.
