Kathy Hunsinger was the person who held the Hunsinger family together.  She embodied everything good in a wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great grandmother.  She will be missed by everyone who knew her and loved her.  The honeymoon was never over for Kathy and Bob in their 53 years together.  She shared the love of the Giants, Warriors and 49ers probably mostly to make Bob happy.  She loved to cook, sew, quilt and embroider.  She loved country music.  But mostly she was passionate about her family.  It hurts so much to think of her not being here and sharing the future with the family.  Her loving ways, her good heart and always putting everyone ahead of herself were things that made her so special.  These were the virtues that spoke volumes about who she was.  Virtually all of the family traditions: family day, campfire songs, family events, certain meals for certain holidays, the list goes on, all came from Kathy and those will always be remembered and cherished forever.  Her beautiful spirit is evident in all four of her children.  Their self-confidence, maturity and success are a direct result of her love, caring, nurturing and lifelong support for each of them.

She leaves her husband Bob, her children Robert, Marti, Nanci and Jeff; her eight grandchildren Katie, Amanda, Robby, Michael, Hannah, Allison, Paul and Clara; her great granddaughter Rhiannon; two daughter-in-laws Theresa and Melita and significant others Gary and Pat.

Words cannot express the immense vacuum left by her passing.  She was Bob’s life-long love.  She loved him more than anything in the world and let him know that every day of their lives together.  The family will always love her and hold her in their hearts and thoughts forever.

Services will be held at a later date.

I am so sorry that I never really got to know Kathy. I only met her in person once, when she and Bob visited her daughter, Nanci, and my son, Gary, in Philly for Christmas, 2015.
But when I heard of Kathy’s passing, my first thought was of a different Christmas. At Nanci’s first Christmas in Philly, she showed me a tape made earlier in the day of her Mom doing a dance video with her grand kids. Fabulous! I met her by skype later that night for the first time. Kathy was aghast that Nanci had showed off her Mom’s dancing skills to me, but I thought it was terrific. I knew right then that I could never keep up with her. She was clearly a force to be reckoned with and the heart of the Hunsinger family.

So I choose to remember Kathy kicking up her heals and filling the room with lots of fun and joy.
She will be sorely missed, but never ever forgotten.
