Melvin Evenson, age 87 of Turlock, CA, passed away Monday, September 30, 2019 at Alexander Cohen Hospice House. Melvin was born in Montana in April of 1932 to Ralph and Lois Evenson. Melvin enlisted in the United States Navy in 1950 and received his honorable discharge in 1954. Melvin graduated with an Associate Degree and worked in Portland, Oregon. At the age of 24, he worked as a Pressman for the Fresno Bee before moving to Turlock 43 years ago where he retired from the Modesto Bee in 1992. Melvin belonged to the Turlock V.F.W. Post 5059 where he served as Past Commander, and Turlock American Legion. He enjoyed woodworking with antique furniture, and was an avid baseball and football fan. Melvin loved his time spent volunteering for the Turlock Honor Guard.
Melvin is survived by his wife Anna Tullier, two daughters Barbara Higgins and Linda Thornton, sister Marva Reinhart, grandson Christopher Evenson, and granddaughter DonnaLynne Linebaugh.

Funeral Services will be held at Allen Mortuary on Friday, October 4, 2019, 3pm at Allen Mortuary. Private burial at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery.
