About the Service

A Celebration of Life will be held August 18, 2018, which would have been her 75th birthday, at her home at 669 Rodeo Grounds Court in Newman from 11:00am – 2:00pm.

Sheila passed away while recovering at Turlock Nursing and Rehabilitation from bilateral knee surgery at Kaiser Hospital in Modesto. She was an active 74 year old woman who enjoyed spending time with her family and grandkids.

She was born in San Diego, CA but soon moved to Illinois where she spent most of her early years. She returned to California with her parents Lester and Dorothy and her brother Jim Register, as a teenager. She graduated from Pioneer High School in the first graduating class and soon met her husband William “Bill” House. They had three children, Cliff, Bernie and Stephanie House.

Sheila worked for Sears Roebuck & Co. for more than 30 years. She held many different positions in stores as an employee. After a career change she worked for Precision Auto Design in Campbell for five years before working for Delta Pacific where she worked until she retired to spend time with her husband Donald E. Cox (Gene).

Gene and Sheila moved to Newman, CA to be closer to family and grandchildren. There she became a member of Simply Grace Fellowship. Sheila enjoyed gardening, doing craft shows, traveling and bowling on the Classy Ladies league while Gene bowled on the SIR league.

She is survived by her husband Gene, brother Jim (Cathy) Register, nephews Travis (Hillary) and Brian (Ally), 3 children Clifford (Shawn), Bernard (Melissa) and Stephanie (Leland), 5 stepchildren Steven Cox, Sherri Gadberry, Susan Davis (David), Gary (Rhonda) Cox and Larry Cox, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be missed greatly by her family and friends.
