Susan Jane (DeRose) Sarkovics July 19, 1941 - February 22, 2022

July 19, 1941 – February 22, 2022

Susie suffered with Alzheimer’s Dementia for many years and passed away peacefully on Tuesday February 22, 2022 surrounded by her family.

Susan Jane (DeRose) Sarkovics was born on July 19, 1941 to Clement DeRose and Mildred (Cobb) DeRose in Grand Rapids, Michigan and grew up in South Bend, Indiana.  She was also welcomed by her older sister, Sharon (Nicki) DeRose Schmitt, all whom preceded her in death.  Susie attended St. Mary’s High School, Stephens College (Missouri) and  while at San Jose State University, pursued a degree in Early Childhood Education.  During Summer School In 1960 she met a young U.S. Marine, on Waikiki  Beach, Oahu, Hawaii.  She was looking to learn how to surf and the rest is history, she met Jerry. We are still not convinced she ever learned how to surf.  After a few years they were married in 1964, settled in San Jose and began their life together.  Over the next six years they welcomed  three daughters into their life and family.

From a very young age, Susie, loved to sail & horseback ride.  Susie also loved to swim, play tennis & golf, she enjoyed vacations, specifically vacations in Tahoe and Yosemite!  She loved to have fun and was truly the brightest light wherever she could be found.  Susie’s smile and her laughter were contagious, unforgettable and full of so much love and joy!   Her cousin Larry Boone recalls moving in with her family just after WWII and being as close as brother and sister could be.

Susie absolutely loved being a Mom & Grandma and was One Million percent, put on this planet to be Mom to her three girls & Grandma to her amazing Grandchildren.  Susie loved spending time with her husband, her girls, her grandchildren and all her friends.  Her Daughter’s and Grandchildren will always be her greatest joys.

She loved spending time with her San Jose friends, before and after moving to Hughson in 2002,  she visited San Jose as often as she could after their move.  Susie loved to entertain every chance she could get, and was really great at it, she threw the absolute best parties!

Susie is survived by Her Husband Jerry,  Daughter’s Jane, Sharon, Beth (Geoff), Grandchildren; Taylor, Cameron, Brooke, Reagan, Jeffrey and her amazing Puppy Moe.

A Catholic Mass will be held on Friday April 8th at 11:00am at St. Anthony’s Church, 7820 Fox Road, Hughson, CA 95326.   We will have a Reception following the Mass to Celebrate Susie’s Life at The Fruit Yard, 7948 Yosemite Blvd. Modesto, CA 95357.
