Thomas Morrell Foster, known lovingly by friends and family as Tom, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 19, 2025, at the age of 65. A longtime resident of Modesto and Turlock, California, Tom was a devoted husband, loving father, and proud grandfather who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Born on September 23, 1960 in Oakland, California to Sally Cramblit Foster (originally from Ottumwa, Iowa), and James Whitney Foster (originally from Sioux Falls, South Dakota), Tom grew up with a strong sense of family and a passion for life that never faded.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Kathleen Foster, and their two children, Michael and Sarah Foster, his stepsons George, Trevor, Jon Crowley and Jason Paiva. He also leaves behind his step grandchildren, step great grandchildren and his grandsons Cole Koch and Robert Crowley, who all brought him endless joy. Tom is remembered fondly by his siblings Michael Cramblit Foster (Pittsburg, California), Bonnie Flynn (Reno, Nevada), Diane McCumber (Modesto, California), his nephews and niece and many friends.
Tom’s warmth, steady presence, and quiet strength left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He lived with integrity, loved generously, and found joy in life’s everyday moments.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor his memory and share stories of the life he lived so fully.
