Jane Cain
1933 – 2026
Jane Cain was born in Portola, California in 1933. Her family owned an automobile garage and mechanic shop in Greenville where she initially went to school. Later, she graduated from Sparks High School in Nevada where she met her first husband, Bill Reeder. They got married fresh out of high school and one year later they had their first child, a boy, also Bill Reeder. They soon moved to Venice, California, where her husband apprenticed as a tool and die maker. While there they had their daughter, Kathi. Upon completion of his apprenticeship, they moved back to Sparks Nevada and lived in Sparks and Reno until 1968. While living in Reno, Jane learned her trade of office management at an auto parts store. Following that she went to work for the Washoe County School District as a bookkeeper for the lunch program. From there they moved to Phoenix, Arizona and then to Tempe, Arizona. In 1968 the family moved to Scottsdale where she worked as a bookkeeper and office manager for the Scottsdale multiple-listing association and then later as a bookkeeper and office manager for a real estate developer. While working at the multiple-listing association she met her husband to be Jim Cain. Jane and Jim lived in Scottsdale for 25 years before moving to Mesa. The two traveled the world together and enjoyed their retirement years. Jim passed away in 2012. A few years later, Jane took a road trip with her friend, Bruce Mehrens to Groveland where they both decided to buy lots and develop with pre-fabricated homes and enjoyed living as neighbors for several years. Three years ago, Jane, Bruce, Kathi and her husband, Joe all moved into 3 apartments at Samaritan Village the same day. Their time was taken with enjoying each other’s company and those of others playing games like Mexican train and cribbage.
Jane is survived her son Bill (Dawnie) Reeder; daughter Kathi Reder; grandchildren Nicki (Todd) Coburn, Marty Martin (deceased), Michelle (Ralph) Parsons, William (Rafael De los Santos) Reeder; great grandchildren Kaitlin (Chase) Cibart, Kacie Coburn, Emily & Amanda Martin, Nikka, Addie & Jordan Bishop and great-great grandchildren Emerson, Nora & Mabel Cibart. She is also survived by her children by marriage Barb Goins, Jim Cain Jr., grandchildren Felix Goins III, Barbara Campbell, Jim (Ellie) Cain III, Michael Cain; great grandchildren Amber (Clifton) Griffing, Dani Campbell and Connor Campbell.
She is preceded in death by her siblings James, Stan and Walt Ellis.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 22, 2026, 2pm at Samaritan Village 7700 Fox Rd in Hughson, California.
