Allen Dale Koehn
January 17, 1944 – August 23, 2025
Allen was born in Turlock to Clifford and Ruth Koehn and passed away unexpectedly on August 23, 2025. He graduated from Livingston High School in 1962 and married Vera Schmidt in 1963. Together Vera and Allen shared 62 years of marriage and had four children. His hobbies included fishing, hunting and leather crafting.
He will be remembered by his family and friends as a loving and caring person who never met a stranger. He had a great sense of humor. At the age of 24, he lost his leg in an accident and that took his physical freedom for a time. He described to his family that the defining moment of his life happened while sitting on the beach a year later. While watching young men running on the beach he realized that his life would not be the same, but he needed to accept the difficulties and persevere. He embraced his survivor mentality and never let anything hold him back. He used his prosthetic leg to play baseball with his kids, climb trees for pruning and successfully operated his contractor business. In fact, Allen was so active that he would wear out his prosthetic annually.
Allen is survived by his wife Vera Koehn; children Danelle Wohlgemuth, Nichole (Weston) Decker, Drew (Angela) Koehn and Chance (Charity) Koehn and his adopted son Gary Wiggers; siblings Betty, Alice, Mary, Ron and Larry; grandchildren William (Monica), Brittany (Harley), Wade, Kaitlyn (Justin), Genevieve (Ruben), Logan, Colin, Trey (Katie), Colton (Raquel); eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Lora and Norma.
Viewing will be held at Allen Mortuary on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at 9:00a.m. Funeral services will begin on Saturday at 10:00a.m. also at Allen Mortuary. Interment will follow at Winton Cemetery District.
