Andrew Jackson Clark Jr., known as “Jay,” died April 6th 2026, at the age of 87 surrounded by family and friends, after a long battle with cancer. He was born on June 6, 1938, in Plain Dealing, Louisiana, to Andrew Jackson Clark Sr. and Alma Lorene Lee.
Jay was raised with a strong work ethic, beginning labor at the age of 7 to help support his family. He enjoyed sports and played regional semi-professional baseball after high school. His life changed when he joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, later serving a mission in California, where he developed a lifelong love for service and faith.
After his mission, he remained in California, where he met and married his sweetheart, Katey Turley. Married for over 63 years, they built a life centered on faith, service, and family.
Jay was drafted and served honorably in the U.S. Army, achieving the rank of Sergeant in less than two years and demonstrating exceptional integrity and leadership. After the Army, Jay graduated from college with a degree in accounting and worked for the Defense Department as an auditor of corporate defense contracts in the Bay Area and at Castle Air Force Base. He then finished his career closing military bases.
Jay will be remembered for his faith, warmth, humor, and unwavering dedication to his family. He is survived by his wife, Katey; Children: Lori (Corey) Lind, Marie (Jeff) Waldvogel, Drew (Anita) Clark, and Serena (Ryan) Williams; 15 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
A visitation and service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Turlock on Friday, May 1, 2026 at 11:00a.m.
Graveside service with military honors will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park also on Friday, May 1, 2026 at 2:00p.m.
