Barbara Ann “Dean” Mesa was born March 24, 1948 in Saint Helens, Oregon. She passed away on November 13, 2025 in Modesto California. She resided in Turlock California for the majority of her life.
Our beloved mother, Barbara Ann, a.k.a. Barbara Dean passed away November 13, 2025 at the age of 77.
Barb was born in Saint Helen, Oregon, and only remained there for a short time until age 2 when they moved to Turlock. She attended elementary through high school and graduated a Turlock High Bulldog. She graduated from Stanislaus State University in 1993 and was a few units shy of getting her masters degree.
Barb was a teacher not just by trade but also to all she knew. Not a day went by that someone didn’t call her for answers to something whether it was schooling, playing rummy, board games or even cooking or baking. Barb knew it all!
Barb had so many passions in life, her family being her number one. If anyone knew her you knew her passion for reading was off the hook. She loved crocheting, sewing, and was into collecting and when I say collecting you knew it was everything under the sun. She love to travel. This past year she made it to Seattle and a short trip to San Francisco, making as many memories as possible. She loved her Friday night sleepovers at Brandie‘s with her granddaughter in-law. Gabby, the grandkids and great grandkids. She was just loving life to the fullest.
Barb had so many titles, she was a mom to Chris, Jason, Brandie and Nikki and a mama Barb to all their friends. Her door was always open to everyone. All of us kids at one time or another had our friends living at the Pedras apartment. She had so much love and compassion for all our friends and family. It was an open house at the Mesa’s.
Our mom was the ultimate provider. We didn’t have a lot growing up but every day and every holiday she made us feel like 1 million bucks. She sacrifice so much to make her family happy. She was a listener to all, honest to a fault and showered everyone with as much love and kindness that she could. And her last days she spent it loving her family, visiting with her inherited sisters, Joann, Judy, Jovi and Lulu and all of those who loved her. She was truly happy in every sense of the word. Barb went out the way she wanted, living life like there was no tomorrow. So remember her laughter, her smiles, her quirky sayings like Patpat’s fave “hop up”when you were in her spot.
Barbara Ann is survived by her brother Tom, her children, Jason and Teresa, Brandie and Richard and Nikki and Mike and Terrie. Her grandkids, Leeandra Lorenzo, Anthony, Gabrielle, Sophia , Ellora, Everett, Adrian, Angelica “Jelly” and her great grandkids Neveah, Jaxon, Daya, Aubree, Ariella, Isaac, Mia, Lilly, Landon, Armani and Luvina.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Stanley and Dorothy Dean, her brothers, William “Billy” Dean, Randy, Dean, her eldest son Chris Michael and several of her lifelong besties.
Her contributions to the community were giving her two cents regularly. You will truly be missed every day Mom and we will try to continue your legacy of love and kindness going on and on.
So not a goodbye mama just until we see you again.
