Eulogy
Today we gather with heavy hearts, but also with deep gratitude, as we celebrate the incredible life of Barbara Jean Jackson. Born in 1948 and passing peacefully on April 17, 2025, at the age of 76, Barbara was a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend whose light, laughter, and love touched everyone she met.
Barbara was the kind of woman who could light up a room with her humor and warmth. It’s no surprise she was voted class clown in high school—her sense of mischief and joy never faded with time. Whether she was ziplining well into her later years, cruising the seas with Tom and their circle of adventurous friends, or sneaking in a playful joke at just the right moment, Barbara had a spirit that was endlessly vibrant and fun.
She was a woman of many talents. Artistically gifted, she could do it all—crocheting, oil painting, cake decorating, photography—and she had a knack for turning everyday moments into something beautiful. She also had a true gift in the kitchen. Barbara’s cooking was more than just delicious—it was a form of love. Her meals brought people together, creating memories around the table that will never be forgotten.
But of all her roles in life, the one she held dearest was being “Grandma.” She didn’t just support her grandkids—she celebrated them. Barbara and her beloved husband Thomas were fixtures at every game, recital, performance, and special moment. Rain or shine, near or far, they showed up. They cheered the loudest, clapped the longest, and loved the hardest.
Barbara is now reunited with the love of her life, Thomas Jackson, as well as their grandson Andrew, her parents Gene and Harriet Riker, and her younger brother Billy Riker. While our hearts ache for her physical absence, we take comfort knowing she is surrounded by those she loved and missed so deeply.
She leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love and joyful memories in her son Robert Jackson, daughter Tamron Jackson Honberger, daughter-in-law Melinda Jackson, and her grandchildren: Eric Jackson, Paityn Honberger, and Ryleigh Jahn, along with grandson-in-law Corey Jahn. Her family was her pride and joy, her constant inspiration, and the center of her world.
Barbara lived fully, laughed freely, cooked lovingly, and loved fiercely. She leaves behind a trail of laughter, beautiful creations, comforting meals, and cherished moments that will live on in each of us. Though she may be gone from our sight, her love will forever echo in our hearts.
Rest peacefully, Barbara. We love you always.
