Bennie “Benny” Charles Henson passed away peacefully on February 22, 2026, at the age of 88 at Memorial Hospital in Los Banos, California.

Benny was born on February 4, 1938, in Arkansas and came to Merced County at a young age, where he would eventually build a life centered on hard work, and service. He proudly enlisted in the United States Army, serving his country with honor. During his time in the service, he married his first wife, Shirley.

Following his military service, Benny settled in Los Banos, where he worked faithfully as a truck driver for 35 years. He then married Barbara Denham in May of 1963, and together they shared many meaningful years.

Benny enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He loved fishing, spending time in his shop working with his hands, and most of all, being surrounded by his family. His quiet strength, humor, and dependable nature will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Henson (2014), and his daughter, Phyllis Henson (2015).

He is survived by his daughters, Terrilyn and Kimberly; and his grandchildren, Benny and Amber Henson, along with extended family and friends who will cherish his memory.

A memorial service will be held at Valley Christian Center in Dos Palos, Thursday, April 9, 2026 10am with military honors to follow at 2pm at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery.
