Bertha Marjorie Jobe
July 24, 1937 ~ April 27, 2025
She was 87 years old and was born in Minneapolis, MN to Forrest and Anna Deming. She was preceded in death by two half brothers, Kenneth Deming and Ralph Deming. Surviving her is a sister 2 years older, Frances Tilbrook (Wynne- dec.) and their three children: Michael, David, and Catherine.
Bertha was also preceded in death by her husband of nearly 60 years, Lawrence Eugene Jobe; married on December 17, 1955.
They raised their family in Stockton, CA. She is survived by their four children: Edward (Vickie), Frank (Kimberly), Steven (Marnie), and Sharon. Grandchildren are Helen, Benjamin, and Sarah.
She attended school at Roosevelt, Waverly, Franklin, Stockton College (Delta), and then UC Berkeley. She always wanted to be a teacher. She was a waitress, and then a homemaker, and secretary for Larry’s businesses.
She fulfilled her goal of becoming a teacher in a more rewarding way than she could have imagined, by being baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on November 14, 1969 in Hawaii. She loved teaching people the Bible. Bertha served as a full-time volunteer minister for 10 years. She also volunteered at the Northern California Women’s Facility until its closure ~ 14 years. There she conducted meetings and Bible studies, donating her time and literature to so many. She taught her favorite word, “Appreciation”, to everyone she could. So she was especially fond of sharing her appreciation for God’s name, Jehovah.
She was also known for her love of gardening, and saw beauty in hummingbirds, lilacs, and dragonflies. Always a Mom, she loved being with little ones.
