Bruce Allen Gallmeyer

December 10, 1948 – May 6, 2025

Bruce Gallmeyer, 76, of Modesto, California, passed away peacefully at home on May 6, 2025.

Bruce was known for his gentle spirit, quiet wit, and boundless curiosity. Born in Butler, Pennsylvania, he spent his early years participating in scouts, hiking and exploring the outdoors, and working on lights in community theater – experiences that shaped a lifelong love for both nature and the arts.

During the Vietnam War, he served as a military policeman at Fort Ord in Monterey, California. After his service, he completed his degree in Business Administration and joined NASA as a Computer Systems Analyst, contributing to missions across the country, from Florida to Hawaii.

Bruce and his wife, Marianne, shared 56 years of marriage, raising their daughter, Laura, in Modesto, California. After retiring, Bruce founded StepStone Computers and dedicated himself to helping others with tech support and creative tribute videos.

He loved hiking in Yosemite, playing games, stargazing, chasing eclipses, and engaging in lifelong learning – especially through the Modesto Institute for Continued Learning (MICL), where he formed many cherished friendships.

He is survived by his wife Marianne; daughter Laura; grandchildren Erik and Elise; sister Mary Ann Esser; and a wide circle of family and friends. He will be deeply missed by everyone who knew his quiet strength, steady presence, and enduring love.

A memorial service will be held on June 17th at 1:00 PM in the Founders Chapel at Allen Mortuary in Turlock, California, with a reception to follow across the street in the Gemperle Room at the Carnegie Arts Center.
