Danny Vierra was born and raised in Turlock, where he grew up on the family dairy, working before and after school. Later, he planted almonds and ranched them throughout his life, taking great pride when his grandson took over the maintenance of the orchard. He especially enjoyed watching his grandson replant and continue the family’s farming legacy.
Danny graduated from Turlock High School and married the love of his life, Donna Autrey, in November 1963.
He began his career at Diamond National Lumber Company in Modesto, California. In 1967, he joined Valley Distributors Lumber Company as its first employee and, through years of hard work and dedication, eventually became the sole owner. Danny retired in 2016 after building a respected business that provided employment to hundreds of young people throughout the valley—something he took great pride in. He loved giving people a chance to work and was known for his generosity and quiet strength.
Deeply involved in his community, Danny was a member of the Denair Lions Club, a past president of the Denair Sports Boosters, and an avid supporter of Pitman High School sports.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping—activities he especially loved sharing with his family. Though a private man by nature, Danny will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and devotion to his family and community.
Danny is survived by his loving wife, Donna Vierra; son Greg (Danielle) Vierra; daughter Brandi Alves; and three grandchildren, Anthony (Krysten) Vierra, Stefan (Kourtnee) Palacio, and Breanna (Craig) Segars. He also leaves behind seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dan and Olive Vierra, and his brother, Harold Vierra.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, November 12, 2025, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Allen Mortuary.
Funeral services will follow on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at 1 p.m. at Allen Mortuary, with interment at Turlock Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, an organization close to Danny’s heart.
