Dev Craig Grieves July 17, 1952 - May 16, 2025

Dev Craig Grieves, born on July 17, 1952, went home to be with the Lord, much earlier than expected, on May 16, 2025.

Dev was a devoted son, a redheaded freckle-faced boy, a brother, a nature lover, an athlete, a motorcyclist, a traveler, a badass, a sweetheart, a brave soul, an uncle, a jokester, a carpenter, an artist, a business owner, an addict, a sober man, a mentor, a sponsor, a lover of the unloved, a collector, a caretaker, an advocate, a person who made you feel special when he turned his attention onto you, a radio control airplane pilot, a teacher, a BBQ grill master, everyone’s unofficial photographer, a sentimental old fool, a friend… a friend to so, so many.

Above all else, he was a father who was endlessly proud of his daughters, a devoted grandfather who loved his grandbabies deeply, and a man who considered his family his greatest blessing.

Dev leaves behind his beloved daughters, Devonne (Kenny), Talia and Jordan who he loved fiercely, and his brilliant sparkling grandchildren, Peyton, Aviana, Landon, McCalister and Artemis, all themselves, made of that vivid light Dev created by sharing his love and laughter with them every chance he had.

He leaves behind his mother, Mary Lee. He leaves behind his sisters Deborah and Kimberly. He leaves behind his nieces and nephews. He leaves behind Suzanne and Betsy, the mothers of his children and friends until the end. He leaves behind his AA community and his RC flying club. He leaves all of us behind, his friends – the people who loved him in life, and will continue to do so in his absence.

Dev was a man like no other.  He gave his love so freely that just being next to him made you feel his glow, made you feel special, made you feel seen.  He leaves us with the precious memory of what it felt like to be loved by him and love him in return.

Though we may feel left behind in our grief, we remember that Dev lived his life to the fullest, leaving behind a shining example of how to enjoy life, one day at a time.

Goodbye Dev. You will live on through each of us. Until we meet again. Tailwinds and Blue Skies.

“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming ‘Wow! What a Ride!'” — Hunter S. Thompson

It was great running on the 440 relay team with you, Durae Torres and Donnie Smith. You were the fastest. Thanks.
