Hubert “Glen” West passed away on October 9, 2025, at the age of 93.
Glen was born in Little Rock, AR, on January 17, 1932, to Clarence and Mary Jane West. Born in the early years of the Great Depression, Glen was taught and learned early the value of honest, hard work. It was a lesson he never forgot and that guided him all his life. He moved with his family to California while he was in high school, and in between studying, he worked long hours for a local farmer. It was during this time that he met the love of his life, Nadine, whom he married and with whom he had six children. In the early years of their marriage, he worked during the day while attending night school to become an electrician. Glen was actively involved in his children’s lives. He encouraged his daughters, Deborah and Lila, to appreciate music and to play instruments. He coached his sons’ Little League baseball team while his daughters kept score and led cheers. He often took his sons fishing, and his daughters on motorcycle rides. He and his son, Roger, joined a bowling league together. He took the family on many vacations, using his scarce time off to ensure they enjoyed trips together. Later in life, he enjoyed golfing with his children as well. Glen was a devout Christian who especially loved to sing hymns. He always got an advanced copy of the Sunday hymns so that he could practice them at home. He was often heard singing and practicing them from his room, preparing for the next Sunday. He was blessed with a full and long life, and he will be dearly missed by his loving family.
Glen was preceded in death by Nadine, and by his daughter, Deborah Boyd. He is survived by his sons Roger (Connie) West, Nathan West, Randy (Patricia) West, Kenny (Nellie) West, and daughter Lila (John) Ingraham. He also leaves behind nine grandchildren and multiple great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at Allen Mortuary, 247 N Broadway, Turlock, CA 95380. Viewing is from 8:30AM until services begin at 10AM.
