John Allen Powell, 87, of Denair, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born on September 19, 1938, John graduated from Hughson High School in 1957. Shortly after, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1957 to 1961.
Following his military service, John built a long and dedicated career as a welder with E. & J. Gallo Winery, where he worked until his retirement in 2000. He was known for his strong work ethic, calm demeanor, and unwavering commitment to providing for his family.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie and Violet Powell; his wife, Joy Powell; and his children, David and Cheryl.
He is survived by his sons, Jerry Powell and Don (Shelly) Powell; his sisters, Faye (Marlow) Anderson and Susan (Bob) Hansen; and his cherished grandchildren, Mallori Powell and Shane Powell.
Visitation will be held on February 10 at Allen Mortuary in Turlock from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
Graveside services will take place on February 11 at Lakewood Memorial Park in Hughson at 11:30 AM.
