John F. Leyva
June 28, 1961 – October 17, 2025
John “Gerald” Leyva was born in San Jose, California to Jesse and Bertha Leyva and passed away after an extended illness at the age of 64. John enjoyed playing trombone in the high school band and also in the jazz band at San Jose City College. He served in the United States Navy in both active duty and naval reserves. John enjoyed continuing his band participation as an adult where he played in his sister’s band.
He is survived by his siblings Jesse (Gloria) Leyva, Teresa Leyva Mendoza and Yolanda (George) Plasencia; and numerous nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents.
Committal service with military honors was held at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery on Monday, November 3, 2025 at 10:00a.m.
