Kyle Stockard passed away peacefully in the hospital surrounded by family after a brief illness.

Kyle was born in Denton, Texas to William and Myra Reynolds Stockard. He lived in and around the Merced area since 1958. He graduated from Merced High, Merced College with an A.A., and California State University Fresno with a B.A.

Kyle was a sports enthusiast and enjoyed watching college football and basketball as well as professional sports teams. He was a fan of the Golden State Warriors basketball, Raiders football, A’s and Dodgers Baseball teams.

Before Kyle retired, he worked part time as a United State Specialty Sports Association (USSSA) umpire and announced basketball and football games for Merced College. He had worked for the City of Merced as a Recreation Supervisor. Next, he helped establish, and was the first Executive Director for Boys and Girls Club of Merced County. He was a Master Mason and member of Yosemite Lodge 99 Free and Accepted Masons in Merced.

Kyle is survived by his wife of 11 years, Carmen Stockard, and brother Kraig Stockard.

Memorial service will be Saturday, Oct. 23 at 4:00pm at the Masonic Lodge, 1810 M St., Merced, CA.

    Kyle was a friend from my days as a recreational umpire. He was a lot of fun to spend time with.
    I will miss my brother in Masonry.
    My wife and I wish blessings on the Stokard family.

    i can still remember when kyle was a announcer at merced college games you just knew it was a big game. his voice seem like it was on tv because he was so professional

    Condolences to the Stockard family. I met Kyle back in 1983 when I moved to Merced. We had season tickets to Fresno State football for his final year. He got me involved with the local softball umpires, and later working the scorers table for Merced College basketball. RIP my friend.
