Lorene Marie Brown

December 5, 1930 – April 8, 2026

Lorene was born the third of nine children to Eugene and Emma Powell in Oklahoma.  She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  Her biggest joy in life was spending time with her family and that joy grew exponentially as she gained grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Lorene was an organized and tidy person who paid attention to detail so much that she was awarded California Association of Health Facilities “facility super star” award. It was presented to Lorene at the annual CAHF convention in Anaheim Ca during her 28 year career at Elness convalescent hospital.  She enjoyed watching game shows, taking day trips to Black Oak Casino and attending New Life Christian Center.  She also loved spending time with the family dog, Abby.

Lorene would often get asked how she was able to maintain her health and vibrance in her 90s.  Her response was always simple, “hard work”.

She leaves behind her children Lannie (Lisa) Brown, Linda (Karl) Curnow and Donald (Gina) Brown; grandchildren Devin (Maribel) Ladd, Kyle (DeAnna) Ladd, Heather Otto, Joshua Brown, Samantha (Thomas) Finley and Melissa (Joseph) Weaver; and ten great grandchildren.  Lorene was preceded in death by her husband John H. Brown; siblings Irene, Charles, Bill, Mary, Dorothy, Carlton, R.L. and Jimmy; her siblings in law Loyd, Earl, Hazel, Lois, Maryella, Haskell, Dorothy and Bobby.

Memorial contributions can be made in Lorene’s name to Community Hospice or any charity which provides support to veterans.

Viewing will be held at Allen Mortuary on Thursday, April 16, 2026 from 5:00-7:00p.m. Funeral service will also be at Allen Mortuary on Friday, April 17, 2026 at 1:00p.m. with interment to follow at Turlock Memorial Park.
