Lynda Sims, 81, of Turlock, California, died at home, with family by her side, on October 17, 2025. Born on May 25, 1944, in Riverside, California, Lynda was the first child of the late H.E. Kilday and Eileen Paxton Kilday. She graduated from Orange High School in 1962. Lynda and her husband met in Southern California, married, and began their family. In 1976, they decided to move to Turlock and begin a new chapter as business owners. Together, they built a thriving painting business. Over the years, they built and managed many residential and business properties in Turlock, Salisbury, North Carolina, and Butler, Tennessee.
As well as being a mother and business owner, Lynda supported her community. She served on the Miss Rodeo California Committee, volunteered with Turlock Junior Miss, 4-H, and the Boy Scouts. She was a longtime sponsor for Turlock American/American East Little League baseball, as well as many other youth sports teams. Her hobbies highlighted her artistic abilities. The most meaningful pastime she enjoyed was genealogy. Lynda loved learning the history of her ancestors and this country. She became a member of the Mayflower Society in 2006.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Bill Sims, and her brother Charles E. Kilday. She is survived by her daughter, Suzette (Lewis), son, Wm. Michael (Shelly); grandchildren, Steven, Michael (Haley), Cole (Lauren), Hannah (Nick), Jacob; and great grandchildren, Gavin, Grayson, Arya, Emma, Miliana, and Hattie.
