Patricia “Pat” Louise Sparks, age 90, of Hilmar, California, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2026, in Turlock, California. Pat lived a life rooted in faith, family, service, and community. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald Sparks, and her brother, Donald Gray, who passed away in March 2026.

Pat devoted 39 years to the Hilmar Unified School District, where she faithfully served generations of students and families before retiring in 1998 as Assistant Superintendent. In honor of her service and lasting impact, the old gymnasium was named Sparks Gym upon her retirement. Her commitment to the Hilmar community extended far beyond her career. She served on the Merced Municipal Advisory Council (MAC) and was actively involved in many committees at Hilmar Covenant Church, where she gave generously of her time, energy, and heart.
Pat will be remembered as the mom who always seemed to have a car full of kids on the way to church camp, 4-H camp, or Girl Scout camp. She created a life rich with laughter, generosity, and meaningful connection. She especially treasured time spent at the family cabin near Pinecrest, California, and she loved to dance, gather with friends, and make lasting memories with those she loved most.

She is lovingly remembered by her children, Amy Sparks, Anne Sparks (John Campbell), and Patrick Sparks (Cheryl); her grandchildren, Matthew Sparks, Lucas Sparks, and Isabella Sparks; her sisters, Loralee Burrows (Don) and Kathy Nyman; her brother, David Williams. Pat, “Aunt Pat”, will also be remembered by her many nieces and nephews. Her love for her family was steady and enduring, and her influence will continue to be felt for generations to come.

A celebration of Pat’s life will be held on June 29, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Hilmar Covenant Church sanctuary, with a reception immediately following in the Family Center.
