Suzanne Melissa Johnson, 76, peacefully passed away on July 5, 2025 in Hughson, California. Suzanne was born October 6, 1948 in Glendale, California. She grew up in southern California in Glendale and Thousand Oaks.
After graduating high school, she attended Humboldt State University in Arcata, California
where she met her husband, Jerry. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in English and
History. Following their wedding, Suzanne moved to Alaska and taught High School in Kenai
and Ketchikan. She and her family returned to California in 1984 where she spent the rest of her
life. She retired from Mitchel Senior School in Atwater, teaching junior high English, History, and
after-school Christian Club with her career spanning 35 years. She has been a member of
Monte Vista Chapel since 1984.
Suzanne loved all things in literature: writing in her free time, reading, and especially
Shakespeare. She worked on writing her own novels (which were never published) in her spare
time as well as tending an ever-growing garden. She also supported multiple missions programs
at her church.
Suzanne is survived by her husband of nearly 53 years, Jerry; her three children and
their spouses: Tanner Johnson (Tiffany), Katrina Wheeler (Eric), and Maia Johnson; two
brothers, Bill Frederics and Ron Pomeroy; one sister, Rosemary Tanner; 10 grandchildren and
one great grandson.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 9th at 10:00am at Monte Vista Chapel 1619 E. Monte Vista Avenue, Turlock, California.
