Ted Michael Sweeten, 62, of Hilmar, CA passed away on April 7, 2024.

Ted was born in Turlock at Emanuel Medical Center to proud parents Deanna and Clarence Herman Sweeten Jr. on December 8, 1961. Ted attended all Hilmar Schools K-12 and graduated in 1980; he played Football, Wrestling and Track and Field where he earned his Block H. Ted also participated in Hilmar High School Band where he played the drums.

Ted started at Hilmar Unified School District in 1981 as a custodian, working into the cafeteria and later onto bus driving. Ted worked at the district for 38 years and many will remember him as their bus driver as he drove the country route for pick up and drop off. Ted was a devout Hilmar-Irwin Stevinson Lions Club member, where he was a member for 35 years. Ted was also a member of Hilmar Covenant Church. He enjoyed watching his San Francisco Giants, NASCAR and drag racing. He loved his blue GMC pickup truck, affably nicknamed ‘Old Blue’.

Ted was preceded in death by Clarence Herman Sweeten, Heather Shaw and is survived by parents Deanna and Ray S. Raya, brother Calvin Sweeten (Judy), sisters Pam Sweeten and Shelly Sweeten, step sisters Karen Iannone (Phil), Sharon Borg (Angelo), Janet McLinden (Steve) and step brother Ron Raya, his niece Jessica Filippini (Blake), nephews Martin Shaw (Kelsey) and Curtis Sweeten and great nieces and nephews: Harper, Hattie Rose and Hyatt Shaw and Dorothy Rose Filippini.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hilmar Irwin Stevinson Lions Club, PO Box 416, Hilmar, CA 95324.

A celebration of life will take place on Friday, April 19 at 11 AM at Hilmar Covenant Church for those who would like to celebrate the life of Ted Michael Sweeten. Reception to follow at the Family Center.
