James R. Truett
July 1938 – May 2026
James R. Truett passed away peacefully on May 6, 2026, at Cogir of Turlock. He was born in Nashville and moved to the Turlock-Patterson area with his family at the age of two. James graduated from Turlock High School in 1956.
In 1960, he married the love of his life, Betty Crawford, and together they began raising their family. Shortly after the birth of their first child, James was drafted into the United States Army and proudly served his country while stationed in Germany. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to the Patterson area before settling in Turlock in 1968, and later made his home in Denair, California in 1972.
James was known for his love of classic automobiles and enjoyed restoring and working on them throughout the years. He also enjoyed shooting pool, woodworking, and taking pride in maintaining his yard. A devoted sports fan, James faithfully cheered on the San Francisco 49ers and San Francisco Giants and was an enthusiastic supporter of NASCAR driver Joey Logano.
He is survived by his daughter, Tammy (Eric) Pifer; son, Jim (Angel) Truett; daughter, Teri (Brian) Hyatt; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Monday, May 11, 2026, at 9:00am with Funeral to follow at 10:00am at Allen Mortuary. Military honors and interment will follow at 1:30 p.m. at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery.
