Alice was born and raised in Southern California before settling in Stanislaus County at the age of 19. Alice graduated from Southgate High School where she enjoyed her high school experience and kept many lifelong friends.

At the age of 20, Alice’s life was changed dramatically when she became a follower of Jesus. Jesus’ saving grace spurred her lifelong ministry of sharing the gospel. Alice ministered to children through Release Time Bible Outreach, Awana International, the Child Evangelism Foundation, Inc. (CEF) and by opening her home to kids after school for over 30 years. She also enjoyed ministering to adults through Bible studies and discussions. Alice attended Turlock First Baptist Church while her children were growing up and then she joined Ceres First Baptist Church.
Alice met the love of her life; Loren and they were married for 58 years. He was a cherished partner who supported her lifelong involvement in ministry.

She was an all-around mom, who devoted her time, love and effort for her family. She volunteered for Turlock Little League as a team mom. She ran the snack bar and organized other events.
Alice was loyal to her friends and her infectious personality crossed over generations. She was drawn to children who always brought a smile to her face and adults gravitated to her welcoming inclusive personality. Her hospitality found many people around the family table during the holidays and throughout the year.

She leaves behind her children Randy (Julie) Wright, Rex (Carol) Wright and Rhonda Wright; grandchildren Reggie Wright, Abbie Wright, Josh Wright and Rachelle Stephenson and seven great grandchildren. Alice was preceded in death by her parents Cor and Nellie Vanderwaal; husband Loren N. Wright and siblings Harry Vanderwaal, Cory Vanderwaal and Tony Vanderwaal.

Viewing will be held at Allen Mortuary on Thursday, May 21, 2026 from 5:00-7:00p.m.
A celebration of Alice’s life will be on Saturday, May 23, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at Mitchell Community Church. Private interment will be held.
