Tony G. Lopes was born in Hilmar, California to John and Virginia Lopes on December 18, 1938. He lived in Hilmar until he was drafted in the US Army and became a member of the 101st airborne.
In 1969 he married the love of his life, Jeannie Valle. They were blessed in many ways over their 54 year marriage. Starting their journey together in Turlock where they lived for 10 years, then in 1979 Tony built their family dream home in Hilmar. After they raised their children they moved back to Turlock and with Tony’s passion for remodeling and landscape design along with Jeannie’s eye for interior design, created the perfect oasis to spend their retirement years together.
Tony worked for Aderholt Specialty Co. starting as a Union Carpenter and working his way up to Foreman and Superintendent retiring in 2000. He enjoyed the complexity and demands of commercial construction. Tony led many crews up and down the West Coast to the Midwest. Tony worked on many ionic projects over the years; San Francisco Marriott, Sheraton Palace, Lawrence Livermore Lab, SFO Airport, Stanford University, Moscone Center, Bishop Ranch, Saks 5th Avenue, Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus and Federal Reserve Bank. He was an active member of Carpenters Local Union, Striped Bass Association, Kohane Power, and Project Kohane.
Tony was a man of many hobbies. Fishing on his boat brought him the greatest joy outside of his family. He enjoyed working out, tinkering in his shop on electric bikes, building lithium battery packs, vintage cars, motorcycles, dune buggies or anything with a motor. He was a loving man who thrived on hard work and lived life to the fullest. He mentored and influenced the lives of many.
Tony is survived by his wife Jeannie Lopes; daughter Dana Daley (James); sons Todd Lopes (Lynnette) and Robert Cozine; his brothers John Lopes (Deanna), James Lopes (Linda), and Allen Lopes (Lana); grandsons Justin Daley (Brian) and Levi Lopes; great grandkids Ethan and Jacob; and numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Virginia Lopes and brother Richard Lopes.
Memorial Service will be held at Allen Mortuary, 247 N. Broadway in Turlock on Friday, September 23rd at 10:30 am. Immediately following will be a “celebration of Tony’s life” across the street at Carnegie Arts Center, 250 N. Broadway.
