Olive Caroline Avila May 16, 1931 - November 7, 2022

Olive Caroline Avila was born on May 16, 1931, in Turlock, California. She entered into rest on November 7, 2022, at the age of 91. Olive was preceded in death by her husband John Daniel Avila. She is survived by her son John Avila (Dianne), daughter Diane Avila, daughter Darlene Westphal (preceded in death by John) and son Daniel Avila (Lori). Olive has eight grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren. She always felt blessed to have seen so many generations.

She lived her entire adult life on the family ranch that she and her husband John bought and developed in 1950. Olive gracefully stepped into the role of a young wife and mother, while working beside her husband in the field. The family ranch yielded many crops including grapes, alfalfa hay, beans, watermelons, and almonds. Olive fit right into the life of farming. The ranch where they cultivated the ground was the same ranch where they grew their family.

Olive endured the loss of her husband in 1981. She continued to manage all that entails a successful harvest of 40 acres of almonds. She began a long-lasting relationship with Tomas Bettencourt. She and Tom worked hard to run and maintain the ranch while taking time to enjoy family activities and holidays.

A life of 91 years cannot be summed up in a few short paragraphs but to give a glimpse into the life of a woman that lived her life on her own terms, you would know these things about Olive Avila, she loved Jesus and was strong in her faith, she loved her family deeply and unconditionally, she was not afraid of hard work, she was a fierce business woman and it was a privilege to love her and be loved by her. Olive Caroline Avila will be deeply missed, and her legacy will not be forgotten.

“Jesus loves you more.”
